On June 8, 2025, the first official Special Olympics event took place in Yverdon-les-Bains – an atmospheric pétanque tournament in the Boulodrome, organized by the city’s sports service, in collaboration with Special Olympics Switzerland and the Pétanque Club of Yverdon.
In sunny weather, 28 teams consisting of athletes with cognitive impairments and their companions played against each other in a warm and sporting atmosphere.
