Motivated Runners Support the SC Hüetli’s Unihockey Team on Their Way to the World Games 2025

Obwalden proved its sporting team spirit last Saturday! At the sponsored run, organized by the Reformed Church Parish of Obwalden (ERKO) in collaboration with Special Olympics Switzerland, you could feel the great support for the SC Hüetli’s Unihockey team, which has qualified for the Special Olympics World Games 2025 in Turin. 60 motivated runners – from toddlers to teenagers to running fans, walking enthusiasts and a wheelchair user – showed full commitment on the sports field on the idyllic Lake Sarnen. Together they completed 1189 laps. The numerous spectators cheered on the runners and many dedicated helpers supported the event.

All runners were able to count on numerous lap sponsors and have already contributed over 10,000 francs to this project to date – and the donations continue to rise! Great support also came from lump-sum donations from local companies such as Raiffeisen Obwalden, Maxon and Toyota Dall’Omo, as well as a donation of one franc per lap run by the ERKO. The goal of financing at least one athlete of the team was therefore far exceeded.
