The Judo tournament took place in Balgach on September 28-29, 2024.
The Judo weekend took place in Balgach on the last weekend of September. More than 35 participants gathered in Balgach for a very enjoyable event. The participating athletes came not only from Switzerland but also from Germany. On Saturday, the focus was on Kata. First, the athletes and their coaches had the opportunity to learn from Hanspeter Glaser and Eric Vanay. Both are international Kata judges and possess such extensive expertise that everyone could benefit. After almost two hours of concentrated Kata practice, more participants, as well as members of the host, the Judo and Ju-Jitsu Club Rheintal, joined for an inclusive fun training session.
Afterward, the Kata competition took place. The progress in Kata was clearly visible, and the participants competed for medals by demonstrating every detail of the Judo techniques to perfection.
After so much Judo, everyone was hungry, and there was the traditional Judo fondue. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food, which gave them new strength and energy to dance.
The next morning, the field of participants continued to grow. Finally, we were complete, and the Shiai competition began. In Shiai, the participants displayed strong fights and impressive techniques. We look back proudly at the results. Jan Wüthrich, Hunter Hulett, Riccy Rogenmoser, and Lionel Leisinger delivered a special performance and were awarded the Style and Fairness Prize.
We look back on a very successful Judo weekend and are already looking forward to the next one.
