On August 31, 2024, the Athletics meeting took place in Wohlen, as it does every year. Athletes from all over Switzerland gathered at the sports facility in the morning to prepare for the upcoming disciplines. In addition to the 50m, 100m, 400m, and 800m races, there was also shot put, ball throw, and long jump. Not to forget the legendary pentathlon, which some athletes completed on this hot summer day. In the morning, the athletes demonstrated their skills in the various disciplines to be assigned to the correct qualification group for the afternoon.
After the morning’s competitions, everyone gathered for a joint lunch, rounded off with a creamy dessert, to recharge their batteries for the upcoming disciplines. Strengthened, the athletes competed in their qualification groups in the afternoon, so that everyone could give their best in their performance class and have the chance to win a medal.
In addition to the qualification competitions, the 4x100m relay race was also on the program. Various teams sprinted as fast as possible to get the baton to the finish line faster than the competition. The handovers went smoothly for most teams and caused great enthusiasm among the spectators.
In the afternoon, many happy faces beamed as medals and ribbons were awarded. Every athlete enjoyed being cheered on and encouraged by spectators and teammates. In addition to the medals, a trophy was also awarded to the best sprint team, which was celebrated appropriately. The athletes left the Athletics meeting not only happy and with some medals or ribbons, but also with new personal bests.
