The Judo tournament took place in Uster on June 8-9, 2024.
From May 15th to June 15th, 2024, action days took place throughout Switzerland under the motto “Future Inclusion.” Judo Club Uster also participated in Judo with several activities.
From June 7-9, the International Special Olympics Judo tournament for people with intellectual disabilities took place in Uster. With more than 100 starters from about 8 countries, this was once again a great success.
On Friday, it started with a welcome training session.
On Saturday, the Mix Mix Team competition of Special Olympics took place simultaneously with a round of the National League A. This resulted in one of the largest inclusion events of all time in Judo. After a joint training session for Judoka with and without disabilities between the ages of 4 and 75, the teams with and without disabilities took turns on the mat. A huge success and a great atmosphere prevailed in the Stadthalle in Uster.
Nils Stump, world champion and current bronze medalist at the World Championships, and Cecilia Evenblij, for her years of dedication to Judo for people with disabilities, were honored by Karin Fehr, city councilor of the city of Uster, for their achievements in Judo. Nils was also kind enough to present the medals to the Mix Mix teams.
On Sunday, the largest annual Special Olympics tournament was on the program. With participants from Estonia, Hungary, Germany and Austria, among others, our Swiss A-Judoka enjoyed other and sometimes super strong opponents.
Pizza and a party completed the Judo weekend.
