Race

The cross-country skiing and snowshoe race took place on Lenzerheide on January 13, 2024.

Inclusion in action and successful competition test for the National Games on Planoiras

It was a cross-country skiing festival with many of the best Swiss cross-country skiers – and in the middle of it all, the cross-country skiers and snowshoe runners from Special Olympics. As Jonas Baumann crossed the finish line of the Swiss Cup race on Planoiras in Lenzerheide in perfect weather, the Specials were just getting ready for their start for the divisioning. The Level 1 race was over 500m and the Level 2 race over 1000m – nota bene on the same course as the Swiss Cup participants. The snowshoe runners started over 100m and 400m before joining the “big boys” in the multi-purpose hall for their well-deserved pasta, talking shop, analyzing and preparing for the final runs. These took place after the final pursuit races of the junior athletes. The joint award ceremonies with the runners of the Swiss Cup and the junior athletes in front of a large audience were undoubtedly a great highlight – inclusion in action and a memorable conclusion to a successful event with a pleasing number of participants.
