Gymnastics in Genoa

Gymnasts stretching and warming up.

This year, the Lugano gymnastics group was once again able to participate in the international Trofeo Zita Peratti in Genoa. It is a traditional event that brings together athletes from all over Italy and several European countries.

The city of Genoa showed its most beautiful side. Those who had time between competitions immersed themselves in the lively old town or enjoyed Ligurian classics such as pesto and focaccia. A weekend that wonderfully combines sport, culture and hospitality.

The Ticino team returned with valuable impressions.

The event is named after Zita Peratti, a former Olympic gymnast who later became a trainer and international referee, decisively advancing the Special Olympics idea in Liguria. From 1987, she was committed to training coaches and referees and worked to highlight the importance of sport for people with intellectual disabilities.
