DOMAIN COMPETITIONS

FUNKTION
Auflegen von Musik an den Medal-Ceremonies(MC)

PURPOSE
The Special Olympics athletes are duly celebrated in a dignified setting after the competitions. The medal ceremonies are well organized and run efficiently.

BACKGROUND
The MCs are usually very time-consuming, as every athlete and every team is called onto the stage and celebrated for each discipline competed.

The Medal Ceremonies are the highlight and crowning conclusion of a competition, where all athletes are celebrated in a dignified and honorable setting, and their achievements are recognized and appreciated.

The MCs for measurable sports (e.g. Athletics, Cross Country Skiing, Cycling, Swimming, Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing) take place continuously due to the large number of disciplines, i.e. during the competitions. For team (Basketball, Football, Floorball) and scoring sports (Boccia, Curling, Golf, Judo, Pétanque, Equestrian, Sailing, Tennis, Table Tennis), the MCs take place at the end of the event in the presence of as many teams/athletes as possible.

TASKS
Each medal ceremony requires a speaker, a DJ, plus various helpers who look after the athletes in the waiting area and prepare and present the medals for the individual ceremonies. These volunteer groups are usually recruited through SOSWI partners. The DJ is responsible for ensuring that the Special Olympics anthem is played on time.

VORAUSSETZUNG
DJ-Skills mit Erfahrung beim Auflegen von Musik ist zwingend.

RESSOURCEN
Es braucht keine Vorbereitungszeit. Der Aufwand beschränkt sich auf jeweils drei bis vier Tage anlässlich von Regional oder National Games.

AUSBILDUNG
Keine Ausbildung nötig jedoch wird im Vorfeld der MC ein ausführliches Regie-Meeting mit der Medal-Crew (Master of Ceremony, Speaker & DJ) verlangt.
