FUNCTION
Swiss System Official
PURPOSE
The results of Special Olympics sports competitions are accurately recorded according to the “Swiss System.”
TASKS
The Swiss System Official manages Special Olympics competitions using the so-called “Swiss System” – software developed to record data from team confrontation sports.Swiss System Officials perform the following tasks during the competition: They are the official representatives of the SOSWI Sports Department. Based on the list of participants, they divide the teams in consultation with the Sport Official (Competition Director) for the first tournament round and plan the group games. In consultation with the Sport Official, they prepare the divisioning and publish the results. They adhere to the SOSWI regulations. They correctly record the competition results, create the final ranking list, and publish it.
REQUIREMENTS
A Swiss-system official is open and communicative. Knows the sports philosophy of SOSWI and has already participated in SOSWI competitions. Knows the sports regulations of the corresponding sport. Has attended the SOSWI introductory module or is willing to do so. Has attended the coach module or is willing to do so.
RESOURCES
Participation in one to three competitions per year.
TRAINING
In consultation with SOSWI, Swiss System Officials can participate in seminars offered by Special Olympics International or Europe. SOSWI offers a Swiss System Official seminar. Internal SOSWI training courses take place once a year.
