FUNCTION
GMS Official
PURPOSE
The results of Special Olympics Switzerland competitions are accurately recorded and managed within the Special Olympics (GMS) electronic data collection system.
TASKS
A GMS Official manages the data of sports competitions for a sport of SOSWI with the help of GMS (Games Management Software). GMS is only used for measurable sports.
GMS Officials participate in events and have the following functions there:
They represent the Special Olympics sports division at the respective competition.
Based on the participant lists, they create the starting lists in consultation with the Sport Official.
On site, they adjust the start lists again according to the divisionings (classification competitions).
During the competition, they inform the Sport Official of any disqualification cases.
They ensure that the results are recorded correctly.
They create the final rankings and send them to the Sport Official
REQUIREMENTS
Is open and communicative
Knows the philosophy of Special Olympics and has already participated in Special Olympics events.
Knows the sports regulations of the respective sport
Has attended the SOSWI introductory module or is willing to attend it
Has attended the coach module and the seminar for GMS or is willing to do so
Has user knowledge in GMS
RESOURCES
Participate in a maximum of 2-3 competitions per year.
TRAINING
The GMS official is prepared for this task by Special Olympics.
GMS of Seminar, Module Introduction and
Module coach
As a rule, all GMS officials meet once a year for an internal training event.
In consultation with SOSWI, GMS officials have the opportunity to participate in international seminars on GMS organized by SOI (Special Olympics International) or SOEE (Special Olympics Europe Eurasia).
