Movement brings joy, strengthens self-confidence, and brings people together. However, not all children, young people, and adults with cognitive impairment regularly have access to sports and movement. Often, there is a lack of accessible programs that make it easier to get started. That is precisely why Special Olympics Switzerland offers the Discovery Days.
What to Expect
A Discovery Day is a taster day full of movement and experiences: trying out new sports together, laughing, discovering new things – all without competitive or performance pressure. But Discovery Days are more than just sports: they are a meeting place for families, schools, clubs and institutions. This is where contacts, friendships and networks are formed that last even after the event.
Why It’s Worth It
- Gain first experiences: playfully, openly, and without pressure of expectation.
- Try out new sports – and get to know suitable local offers.
- Experience community: encounters with like-minded people, clubs, and experts.
- Strengthen health and self-confidence – casually, with joy and movement.
Our Goal
By 2030, we aim to organize 120 Discovery Days across Switzerland and thus enable over 1,500 participants to experience unforgettable sporting moments. Every event is a step towards more movement, joy, and development.
