Special Olympics Supports the Establishment of an Association for Inclusive Sports

Special Olympics Switzerland supports the establishment of the association Swiss Inclusive Sport and entrusts it with the task of promoting access to sports for people with disabilities. The outsourcing of these activities, which were previously carried out in the “Inclusive Sport” department, enables the use of synergies with other stakeholders and creates new perspectives to bring together all people affected by exclusion in sports.

At the same time, Special Olympics Switzerland can once again fully concentrate on its core mission: providing movement, sports, and competition opportunities for children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Simon Ammann, President of Special Olympics Switzerland, says: “Sport is an important instrument for public health and social cohesion in our country. It must be free from exclusion and discrimination.”

Further background information on inclusion in sports can be found here.
