Roles at SOSWI

Special Olympics Switzerland (SOSWI) has defined various functions for people who are involved in sports for people with intellectual disabilities. These include coaches, sports coaches, sports officials and technical coordinators.

Coach

A coach accompanies and supports their athletes at competitions. They are also concerned with ensuring that the athletes train regularly in the relevant sport.

Sport Coach

The requirements to be certified as a sports coach in a sport are described in the document Definition Sport Coach. The Sport Coach certificate can be obtained by a coach from Special Olympics by means of a request for recognition as a Sport Coach.

Sport Official

A Sport Official is a person defined by Special Olympics who assumes the sporting responsibility and technical management of a competition. “Definition Sport Official”

Technical Coordinator

The Technical Coordinator is responsible at the national level for the development of a sport. They are in close contact with the sports department of SOSWI, as well as with the coaches, sports coaches and sports officials in the respective sport. GMS Official

A GMS Official is a person defined by Special Olympics Switzerland who assumes responsibility for managing sports competitions with the help of GMS – Games Management Software. “Definition GMS Official”
