As part of the worldwide Special Olympics movement \u2013 active in over 190 countries \u2013 we promote inclusion and participation through the power of sport. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Vision<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our vision is to create an inclusive world through the power of sports, where people with intellectual disabilities can lead active, healthy, and fulfilling lives.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We Do<\/h2>\n\n<ul style=\"padding-left:40px\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sports promotion<\/strong>: We organize around 70 competitions annually in over 20 sports, from regional training to the National Games.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>International Competitions<\/strong>: We enable delegations to participate in the Special Olympics World Games \u2013 one of the world&#8217;s largest sporting events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training and Support<\/strong>: We train coaches and supervisors to ensure that athletes receive the best possible support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inclusive Programs<\/strong>: With initiatives such as <em>Unified Sports<\/em> or <em>Discovery Days<\/em>, we create sustainable physical activity opportunities and connections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Health promotion<\/strong>: Through the <em>Health<\/em> program, we improve the physical and social-emotional well-being of people with intellectual disabilities and effectively integrate them into health, care, and wellness systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Structure<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special Olympics Switzerland is an independent national foundation headquartered in the <strong>Haus des Sports in Ittigen<\/strong> near Bern and with further offices in <strong>Tenero and Zurich<\/strong>. Our team works closely with sports clubs, schools, institutions, volunteers, families and partner organizations to make sport accessible to all. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Part of a Global Movement<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special Olympics was founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy-Shriver and has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1988.
